| FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE CONTACT: CIC APPOINTS NEW APEX DIRECTOR Washington, DC – March 27, 2008 – The Convention Industry Council (CIC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Susan M. Tinnish as the Director of the Accepted Practices Exchange (APEX) program, effective April 1, 2008. Brenda Anderson, Chair of the CIC Board of Directors, stated “We are fortunate to have a person of her stature in the meetings industry leading this important program.” Terri Breining, CMP, CMM, Chair of the APEX Commission, stated “Sue has had broad and deep experience in the meetings & events industry, from both the volunteer and staff perspective. That experience, combined with her current involvement as a member of the APEX Education Advisory Council, makes her the ideal person to lead us in our work of driving active adoption throughout the industry. I'm excited to have the opportunity to work alongside Sue on this important program.” Since 1996, Sue has been the head of SEAL, Inc., a firm providing facilitation, training and team building services. She is well known in the meetings industry through her speaking and writing for CIC member organizations such as the International Association of Conference Centers (IACC), Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA) and Meeting Professionals International (MPI). Sue is a graduate of Northwestern University and earned her MBA at the University of Chicago.
The Convention Industry Council’s 34 member organizations represent more than 103,500 individuals and 19,500 firms and properties involved in the meetings, conventions and exhibitions industry.
