“Face Time. It Matters.” is a grassroots industry campaign designed to promote the benefits of meeting face-to-face. The campaign was developed in response to one of the most challenging years ever faced by the meeting, convention and exhibition industries. This public information campaign to identify and promote the unique benefits associated with meeting face-to-face will be implemented by CIC members. For more information and to access the Face Time logo and tools to use in your communications, go to www.facetimematters.org.

MEETINGS INDUSTRY ISSUES

H1N1 Virus: The CDC and World Health Organizations are not recommending travel restrictions related to the outbreak of the Influenza A(H1N1) virus. Limiting travel and imposing travel restrictions would have very little effect on stopping the virus from spreading, but would be highly disruptive to the global community. For more information go to www.cdc.gov or www.who.int/en/. Click here

to view CIC's press release.

CIC member organization American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) incorporated association meetings into their legislative efforts during its annual member fly-in on April 1--American Associations Day. ASAE members met with their Members of Congress to deliver the message about the value of association meetings

Meetings Industry Under Attack

It is no secret that the meetings industry has come under attack in the media and Congress.  CIC and its member organizations have been working with an industry coalition to get the message out that meetings are good for business and jobs.

Here’s What You Can Do

The US Travel Association has developed a website with factual information and resources for you to help. Go to www.Meetingsmeanbusiness.com.

Sign the petition to show your support for the communities, businesses and millions of employees who rely on meetings, events and performance incentive travel. This petition will be delivered to the White House, Congress and to Fortune 200 business leaders.

Keep America Meeting.org

The CIC Chair has appointed a Task Force as a clearing house and feedback loop for members relative to these issues. Email us your thoughts.
